William Charles Pooler Obituary

    William C. Pooler, 86, of Newville passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, at UPMC Carlisle with his family at his side. Bill was born on March 7, 1938, in Madera, Clearfield County to Emma (Johnston) Pooler and William Howard Pooler.


    Bill retired from the Commonwealth of PA where he worked as a soils engineer and was Civil Engineer Manager General supervising the Soils & Foundation Section. He was a Past Master for the Big Spring Masonic Lodge and a Zembo Highlanders piper. He also enjoyed sharing his genealogical research with historical societies. Bill was a proud Penn State alumnus and fan.


    Surviving him are his son, William H. Pooler and wife BethAnn (Taylor) of Chambersburg, his daughter, Wendi M. (Pooler) Hair and husband Brian of Shippensburg, his grandchildren, Zachary, Heather, Staci, Aidan, and Tadhg, and his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Morgan, Conor, Asher, Teagan, Emmett, and Jasper. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Elizabeth Schofield (Gray) Smithmyer, wife of Robert J. of Denver, PA, Richard Lloyd Gray III, husband of Fe B. (Bernardino) of Chester Springs, and Meredith Powell (Gray) Apps, wife of Adam D. of West Milford, NJ., and his step-grandchildren, Zachary, Adam, Ashton, and Abigail.


    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Rodgers) Gray Pooler.


    A memorial will be held privately by his family.
