William Sterner Moyer

   William Sterner Moyer, 88, of Newville passed away Wednesday February 21, 2024 in Green Ridge Village Newville.

    He was born in Kelly Township Lewisburg, PA May 27, 1935 a son of Earle L. and Christine Sterner Moyer.

    Bill had served in the U.S. Army, and was a 1957 Graduate of Bucknell University.

    Mr. Moyer had worked as a manager in the controllers department of Exxon. Thirteen of those years were spent overseas and also Houston, TX. He had worked in the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand as well as several other places.

    He was a 32nd degree Mason, he had belonged to the Valley of Bloomsburg, Charity Lodge #144 F&AM, Lewisburg, First United Presbyterian Church, Newville, he was a life member of the National Model Railroad Association, and was very active in the train station at Green Ridge Village. He was on the board at Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, WV for six years. Mr. Moyer served on the the Board of Presbyterian Senior Living for over 20 years, serving as the chairman of the board for a term. He was honored to have the Moyer House in Dillsburg named after him.

    Bill is survived by his wife Joan Fletemeyer Moyer, one son John S. Moyer of Villages, FL, and one daughter Nancy J. Moyer of Newville.

   A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 1, 2024 at 1:30 PM in the Garden Court, Green Ridge Village 210 Big Spring Road, Newville, PA 17241.
