William Boldosser Obituary

    William R. Boldosser, 96, of Newville. He was the son of the late George and Lucetta (Marquart) Boldosser, Newville.

    He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy, as well as his brothers I. Glenn, Ken, and Ernie.He is survived by his daughter Patricia Boldosser (Lowell) Steinberg and grandchildren Sarah and Daniel.

    Bill served 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-1962,attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He fought in the South Pacific during WWII and worked on helicopters in Japan and the U.S. Afterward. He was on call for another 10 years, receiving his final discharge in 1972.

    After retirement he worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for 16 years. He did electronics work at Letterkenny and held numerous offices in the National Federation of Federal Employees union and served as president for 1200 members.

    Bill was a life-long member of the Newville First Church of God, joining in 1934. He served in various capacities there, including council president. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1949, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1973-1994, where he served as Worthy Patron. Bill was a life member of the Newville Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past commander, chaplain,and commander of the firing squad at patriotic services. He was also a member of the Newville American Legion and was in charge of placing flags on veteran’s graves for 30 years. He was also a member of the Marine Corp League (Carlisle) for many years. Bill was a member of Neighbors in Christ. He volunteered for many years at the Newville food bank. He was past president of the Newville Historical Society, and he was a member of the Newville Water & Sewer Board.

    A viewing will be held Wednesday November 20, 2019 from 1 to 2 PM in the Newville First Church of God, 475 Shippensburg Rd. Newville. A funeral service with Rev. Wayne Good officiating will be held in the church at 2 PM Wednesday. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Marine Corp. League will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.
