Shirley June (Smith) Boyd, 85, of Newville passed away Monday September 9, 2024 in UPMC Carlisle.

    She was born May 11, 1939 in West Pennsboro Twp. A daughter of the late Herman D. and Lucy C. Negley Smith.

    Shirley had worked for Kay & Ray's Potato Chips, and at Big Spring School District for Chartwell food service. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg and was involved with the Womans Guild.

    Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband Wallace “Wally” Boyd who she married April 30, 1960. She is also survived by three sons Randy Boyd and wife Deb, Brian “Buck” Boyd and wife Betty, and Eric Boyd; three granddaughters April Rosario and husband Nicholas, Heather Deveaney and husband Michael, and Christine Brobst and husband Matthew; three step grandchildren Karen Boone husband Daniel, Kathy Sweigart husband David, and Kevin Smith wife Kristen; 9 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren; two sisters Patsy Souders, and Arlene Eberly; and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by one sister Catherine Hill, and two brothers Robert Smith, and Richard Smith.

    A graveside service will be held Friday September 13, 2024 at 1 PM in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville with Rev. Mary Jane King officiating.
