Ruth Sheeler, 93, of Newville passed away Sunday April 20, 2025 in her home. 

    She was born May 4, 1931 in Bucks County, PA a daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Souder Allebach.

    She was preceded in death by her husband James G. Sheeler who passed away June 16, 2014. 

     Ruth was a member of Diller Mennonite, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and belonged to the sewing circle, she enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, writing poetry, and photography. She had an extensive prayer life, and was an avid letter writer. 

    Mrs. Sheeler is survived by six children Susan E. Martin and her husband Lee, Timothy J. Sheeler and his wife Joyce, Lydia A. Risser and her husband Nelson, Daniel P. Sheeler and wife Kimberly, Linda R. Zimmerman husband Claude Jr. and Samuel L. Sheeler and his wife Susan; 23 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren; four sisters Esther King and her husband Dave, Miriam Mack, Lois Leatherman and her husband Don, Elaine Derstine and her husband John, two brothers Gerald S. Allebach and his wife Margaret, James L. Allebach and his wife Sylvia.

     Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers Marvin Allebach and his wife Esther, Paul Allebach and his wife Sandra, and one brother-in-law Norman Mack. 

     A visitation will be held Saturday April 26, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM in Diller Mennonite Church Creek Road, Newville. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the church with Glenn Lauver and Joseph Kindon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
