Ronald Daniel McDonald, 90, of Newville passed away Saturday February 7, 2026 in Green Ridge Village Newville.
He was born October 29, 1935 in Carlisle a son of Daniel McDonald.
Mac had taught for 39 years at Boiling Springs High School.
He was a member of the Newville First Church of God, where he had served on the church council, and also taught Sunday School. He was very active with the Newville Historical Society, having served as president, coaching Little League baseball, he served on the Newville Town Council, the Community Center Board, as well as many other community organizations.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Shirley J. Rolar McDonald who passed away December 1, 2025.
He is survived by one daughter Jo Ann Smith and her husband Duane, one son Michael A. McDonald and his wife Cheryl, five grandchildren Benjamin Smith, Kayla Hoover and her husband Trent, Olivia McDonald, Julia McDonald, and Jack McDonald, and two great-grandchildren Cora and Grant Hoover.
Mac was preceded in death by four sisters Mary McDonald, Myrtle Dunbar, Martha Fickes, and Edna Wagner.
The family of Ron and Shirley McDonald would like to thank all the staff at Green Ridge Village for the wonderful care they provided for both Ron and Shirley.
A visitation will be held in the Newville First Church of God 475 Shippensburg Road Newville, from 9 to 11 AM Saturday February 21, 2026 . A memorial service with Rev. Richard Reese officiating will follow at 11 AM in the church
