Ronald Leroy Baughman Obituary
Ronald Leroy Baughman passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 while surrounded by his family.
Ron was born at his home in Bloserville, PA on April 28, 1943 to his parents, Leroy and Bernita (Hurley) Baughman. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maxine Baughman and Brenda Wheeler.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (Weary) Baughman and his three sons; Phil and his wife Sandy (Carr), Darin and his girlfriend Samantha Gorski, and Chad and his wife Sarah (Kuntz). His six grandchildren were his pride and joy; Drew (wife Bayleigh), Morgan (husband Nigel), Tyler, Nicole, Sadie, and Rebekah.
Ron worked at Reeves Hoffman before beginning his career at Honeywell, of which he retired after 30+ years. He began his own photography business from home, capturing memories for many local families and sports teams. He was Scout Master of Troop 169 for over 30 years and earned the Silver Beaver Award. He was a Lifetime Member of Fire Company 48 in Bloserville, serving at many capacities, including chaplain for 45 years. He attended all 75 fairs that have been held. He was an active member of Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, attending since the church began. He loved to be involved with ministry whether it was on the building committee, helping with the two and three year olds at MOPS, or cooking and serving food. Ron was the President of the Big Spring High School class of ‘61, organizing reunions and social gatherings for 63 years. He was proud to have been there when the Alma Mater was written, often singing it louder than anyone else in the crowd. Ron was honored to be inducted into the Bulldog Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Newville Historical Society, having a great passion for local history. Ron was an avid train collector and found great joy in sharing his display.
Despite all of these achievements, Ron will be missed mostly for his genuine love of family and community. Family vacations to Rehoboth Beach and the cabin in Potter County, traveling with friends, and hosting family/social gatherings like reunions and picnics were some of his favorite adventures. He loved entertaining and bringing people together.
Ron’s greatest achievement was living a life of faith. He taught us, by example, to believe in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus we are able to stand against the trials of this life, demonstrate true love to others, and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Until we meet again, Ron, we will do our best to follow in your footsteps. Be prepared!
Ron’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 10:00 at Carlisle Evangelical Free Church (290 Petersburg RD). In lieu of a viewing, a time of remembering will be held at the church, following internment at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A meal will be served.
Memorial Contributions can be made to Upper Frankford Fire Company (4080 Enola RD Newville, PA 17241) or Carlisle Evangelical Free Church (290 Petersburg RD Carlisle, PA 17013).
