Robert G. Ballard 82 of Carlisle peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at home with his wife by his side. Born in Pittsburgh on January 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert and Clover (Urban) Ballard.

    Bob, a retired US Navy veteran, served from 1963-1967. During his service, he served on multiple naval aircraft carriers as a part of the reconnaissance squadron and received several medals. Bob and Judy met at a square dance gathering. He retired from the Harrisburg Housing Authority. Bob was an avid music lover and enjoyed playing and creating games. He also volunteered to lead games for various groups and organizations. A member of the Meeting House Church in Carlisle, Bob cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He had a special fondness for all furry friends, especially his cats.

    He is survived by his wife, Judy A Ballard (Mellott) and stepdaughters, Laura L. Schwenninger and husband Wayne, Joyce L. Hershey, and Rebekah L. Deitz and her husband William. Also surviving is his brother Scott J. Ballard and his wife Barbara K. Ballard and their son Daniel A. Ballard. As well as 16 wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    A private graveside service for immediate family will be held on February 4th. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on February 16, 2026 at The Meeting House Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle. There will be a visitation from 10 am, with service beginning at 11 am.
