Rand Lynwood Kann, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, with his devoted wife of 54 years, Sally, by his side.
Born on July 31, 1947, to Twyla and Wallace Kann, Rand was cherished for his quick wit, sense of humor, and lifelong passion for baseball. He was a 1965 graduate of Big Spring and later graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College. Rand spent his career in the manufacturing industry, having worked for Kinney Shoe, Sylvania, and Pacific Coast, and in retirement, proudly took on the role of chauffeur for his beloved wife, happily driving her to work, and he would patiently wait while playing 36 holes of golf. One of his greatest joys was supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting events. He was a faithful member of Centerville Lutheran Church, where his presence and fellowship were deeply valued. Rand’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for those closest to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Kann; his son Kris Kann and daughter-in-law Erica "Daisy" Kann; and their three children, Jozelyn, Huck, and Sadie. His son-in-law Matt Coburn, his wife Rebecca, and grandchildren Elliot and Katrina. He is also survived by his sister, Ondean Stouffer, his brother-in-law, David Beecher, and two sister-in-laws, Joann Oboczky, and Judy Kann and many nieces and nephews.
Rand was preceded in death by his parents, Twyla and Wallace Kann, brother Richard Kann, and his cherished daughter, Brandi.
A viewing will be held Saturday May 10, 2025 from 12 to 1 PM in Centerville Lutheran Church, Newville. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday in the the church with Rev. Michael Faust officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Centerville Lutheran Church, 1874 Walnut Bottom Road, Newville, PA, 17241.
