Max H. Swartz Jr., 80, of Newville passed away Friday February 7, 2025 in UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. 

    He was born January 7, 1945 a son of the late Max H. and Ottie McManus Swartz.

     Mr. Swartz was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lehman Swartz who died October 7, 2017.

     Early in his life he had worked as a farmer, but spent most of his life as an over the road truck driver. Driving until early 2024. During his career he drove for John F. Walters, Peter Brothers, T.M. Morley, and Kuhn Transportation. 

     Max is survived by two sons Bryan L. Swartz and his wife Evelyn, Randall A. Swartz and his wife Pamela, one daughter Kimberly M. Gsell and her husband John; five grandchildren Leah Fleming, Kyle Schlusser, Emily McKee, Gage Gsell, and Raegan Gsell; seven great-grandchildren Layne Fleming, Oliver McKee, Rilynn Schlusser, Karter Fleming, Everette McKee, Crew Fleming, and Everly Schlusser; one sister Wendy Johnstone, and three brothers Tim Swartz, Sam Swartz, and Bill Swartz. 

     In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister Sharon Swartz, and four brothers Mike Swartz, John Swartz, Jeff Swartz, and Doug Swartz. 

    A viewing will be held Sunday February 16 2025 from 6 to 8 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville, and from 10 to 11 AM Monday February 17, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday February 17th in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. 

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, Tunnel for Towers, of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
