Marian Beam Hocker, 95, presently of Galeton, PA and formally from Newville, died January 13, 2025 at her present home in Galeton.

    Born October 25, 1929 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur F. Beam and Margaret Witmer Beam. She was married 57 years and the widow of Van Galen Hocker who died November 4, 2006.

     Marian was a pianist, organist and played saxaphone and clarinet for over 40 years in local churches.

    She was a 1947 graduate of Lower Paxton High School and attended Carlisle Commercial College. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business for 17 years before their retirement. She was a member of Newville Church of the Brethren. Marian enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing games and going on church bus trips.

    She is survived by two daughters Gale L. Mellinger, Newville, and Carol H. Fowler, husband John, of Galeton, one sister Margaret Hocker, husband Richard of Harrisburg; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Janet K. Bricker, Carlisle, and one brother Richard E. Beam, Newport

    A committal service will be held Monday January 20, 2025 at 1 PM in Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM January 20, in the Newville Church of the Brethren with Pastor John F. Hess officiating, 16 Carlisle Rd. Newville, PA 17241.
