Karen H. Hamer, 89, of Newville, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in Green Ridge Village in Newville.
She was born February 13, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of John Tilden Howard, MD, and Anne Fredericksen Howard.
Mrs. Hamer is preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Hamer Jr. (Capt. USN Ret.).
She attended Roland Park Country School in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from Wellesley College (class of 1953).
Karen was an artist specializing in animal oil portraits. She was a member of the Chester Art Guild in Chester, VT. She loved to travel, was an avid gardener and had deep affection for cats and horses.
She is survived by two daughters Anne F. Carter of West River, MD, and Roberta K. Hamer and her partner Lynne of Jonestown, PA; three grandchildren, Andrew Bosworth, Allison Bosworth Fiut and her husband Jeff, and Spencer Bosworth, one great-grandson Gordon Fiut, one great-granddaughter Holly Fiut, and one brother-in-law Charles Paules.
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her sister Susan Howard Paules, and 18 cats.
A graveside service will be held June 12, 2021 in Houghtonville Cemetery, Grafton, VT.
