Julie Agnes (Clark) Crum Obituary

Julie Agnes ("Judy") Crum of Newville died peacefully on June 21st at Mercy House in Chambersburg, surrounded by several loving family members. Judy was born on April 30, 1940 to Andrew J. and Sara M. (Ewing) Clark.  Judy lost her biological mother at the young age of nine years, but a couple of years later she gained another mother as her father married Charlotte (Miller) Clark.  Charlotte stepped in and became Judy's mother, and her younger brother Scott's mother, in every single, loving way a biological mother provides.  Charlotte quickly became their Mom.

Judy graduated from Big Spring High School in 1959.  She married Tom Oiler of the Newville area, and after Tom's death she married Floyd Crum.  Together Judy and Floyd raised two children, David and Cami.

Judy dedicated her life to motherhood, to helping others and to her love of music and making crafts.  She was also a very talented painter, and she was an avid birdwatcher. Having a beautiful soprano voice, she sang in the church choir for well over 50 years and she sang at many weddings and funerals. Judy was a devoted and life-long member of Big Spring Presbyterian Church in Newville, where she not only sang in the choir, but also served as a Ruling Elder and served on many different committees, one which included many years on the Congregational Life Committee. One of her favorite past times was sitting on her porch with family and friends and serving them iced tea and some of the cookies, cakes or pies she had just made. Judy retired from Pepsi Bottling Company (aka Cloverdale) in Newville.

No matter what trials or tribulations Judy faced during her life, her faith in God always sustained her and she continued to wear a smile.  Judy's Irish ancestry made her always yearn for visiting Ireland in person. That dream came true in 2008 when she and her daughter, Cami and her granddaughter, Breanna, made that trip.  It was the trip of a lifetime. She also enjoyed her trips to Cape May Beach.

Judy's love for her family and friends was beyond measure. She is survived by her son David Crum and his wife, Jennifer, her brother Scott Clark and his wife, Judith, her grandchildren, Levi Crum (Mackenzie), Jacob Crum (Adrian), Michael Kessler (Ashlee), Breanna Kessler and Alec Kessler.  Judy also had eight great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ren, Logan, Aidan, Dylan, Robbie, Eliza, and Alena. They were all the pride and joy of her life.

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, Sarah Ewing Clark and Andrew "Jack" and Charlotte Clark; her husband, Floyd E. Crum; her daughter, Cami Kessler; her infant son, Michael Crum; her infant grandson, Andrew Crum; and a step-brother, Robert Miller.

A memorial service will be held on July 12th at 10:30 a.m. at the Big Spring Presbyterian Church in Newville.  Officiating will be Reverend Bowerman and Reverend Beck.
