Joseph E. Piper Sr.

    Joseph E. Piper Sr., 74, of Newville passed away Sunday December 13, 2020 in UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.

    He was born December 1, 1946 in Newville a son of the late Irvin H. and Hazel L. Shopwell Piper.

    He had retired from Agway, where he was a service department manager. He was a member of Mt. Rock United Methodist Church, and had belonged to the Newville Lions Club, Drifters Street Rod Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1299, Carlisle.

    He is survived by one daughter Christine E. Michaels and her husband Edward, and one son Joseph E. Piper Jr., and his wife Kimberly, three grandchildren Grant Michaels and his wife Holly, Luke Michaels, and Rylee Piper; one sister Dorothy M. Finkenbinder, and one brother William L. Piper.

     In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother Merle E. Piper.

     A pass through viewing will be held Friday December 18, 2020 from 6 to 9 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. As mandated by Governor Wolf, maximum capacity during gatherings is restricted and you may be asked to wait at the the door until numbers allow you to enter. A funeral service will be at 10 AM Saturday December 19, at 10 AM in the Newville First Church of God 475 Shippensburg Newville with Pastor Wayne Good officiating. Burial will follow in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
