John Jay Lamason Obituary

    John Jay Lamason, 67, of Newville passed away Wednesday July 2, 2025 in UPMC Harrisburg. 


    He was born October 23, 2025 in Carlisle a son of the late Merle Richard and Betty Alice Geyer Lamason. 


    John had worked at the Ron Fickes Service Station in Newville, the Lumber Yard of Newville, and as a farmer. 


    He was a 1976 graduate of Big Spring High School. He belonged to the Ridge Church, Shippensburg, the Newville Lions Club, where he also mowed grass, and the Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association. He loved hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, antiques and auctions, and especially old cars and tractors. 


    John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol Ann Worthington Lamason, one daughter Andrea Widders; two grandchildren Luke Lemmon, and Gracie Lemmon; three sisters Kate Lamason, Connie Lamason Appleby, and Dawn Marie Lamason, three brothers Larry “Butch” Lamason, his twin brother Donald Lamason, and Scott Lamason; and his dog Marley. 


    A viewing will be held Sunday July 13, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc., 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville, and Monday July 14 from 9 to 10 AM in the Ridge Church 1095 Ridge Road Shippensburg. A funeral service will follow in the church at 10 AM, burial will follow in the Chuch Cemetery. 


    Memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
