John Chestnut Obituary

    John R. Chestnut, 88 of Newburg passed away Friday Decmeber 31, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

    He was born November 21, 1933 in Newville a son of Earl J. and Elsie Mae Miller Chestnut.

    He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, had retired from Carlisle Tire and Wheel where he was the maintenance supervisor.

    He was a member of the Big Spring Fish and Game, and was a life member of the NRA.

    Mr. Chestnut is survived by his wife Mildred L. Etter Chestnut, four children Judy Anthony and her husband Keith, Jon Chestnut and his wife Nalini, Jody Chestnut, and Lisa Chestnut and her significant other Tim Miller; seven grandchildren Jennifer, Joseph, James, Brittany, Briana, Brexton, and Branson; and three great-grandchildren Logan, Devin, and Gabe; one sister Dorothy Failor, and one brother James E. Chestnut.

    He was preceded in death by one brother George Chestnut, and one sister Mary Chestnut and one grandson Michael.

    A viewing will be held from 12 to 2 PM Wednesday January 12, 2021 in the Egger Funeral Home 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM in the funeral burial with Military Honors will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery Newville.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Big Spring Fish and Game Fishing Derby.
