Jean Dodson Obituary

 

    Jean Dodson, born Jean Diehl on October 8, 1924, in Altoona, Pa., left us on January 5, 2020.  She was the daughter of Roy J. Diehl and Stella Custer Diehl, and graduated from Pennsylvania State University before teaching music for several years in central Pennsylvania. In 1958, her husband joined the foreign service with the U.S. Agency for international Development and Jean and her family spent years in both Iran and Laos, where she continued teaching first her children, then in an American school. She lived for a time in Alexandria, Va., and Saxton, Pa., before moving to Green Ridge Village in Newville. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey K. Brumbaugh, and her second husband, John Dodson. She is survived by her children Christine Brumbaugh, David Brumbaugh (wife Carolyn), John (Jack) Brumbaugh (wife Gail), step-daughter Beth Worley, step-son John (wife Jeanne), eight grandchildren (Stephen Wyatt, Teresa Jordan, Alexis Kajencki, Thaddeus Kajencki, Anthony Kajencki, John Brumbaugh, Katherine Shelor, Ariel Martinez Brumbaugh, and Emelia Martinez Brumbaugh) and three step-grandchildren (Staci Weis, John Dodson, and Jessica Dodson). She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved by all and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 11, 2020 at 1 PM in Big Spring Presbyterian Church, 25 Corporation Street Newville.
