Jack E. Patterson, 77, of Newville, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in his home, after a valiant 8-year battle with cancer.
He was born June 29,1946, in Chambersburg, PA, a son of the late Guy Jean Bouquet Mirouze Patterson and Marian Smith Patterson.
Jack served in the U. S. Army, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He taught fourth grade for 35 years in the Carlisle School District, having taught at South Dickinson, Mt. Holly, and Hamilton Elementary Schools.
He belonged to the National Sporting Clays Association and various sporting clays clubs in the area. He had attained NSCA Master Class Shooter status in 2008.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn “Bunnie” Rook Patterson, one daughter Jennifer Paynter and her husband Alan and one son Michael Patterson. He is also survived by three grandchildren Christopher Paynter, Maliyah Paynter, and Jaren Paynter, one sister Marian Peterson, his mother-in-law Mary Rook, his two dogs Doc and Lucy, and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
A viewing will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, from 10 to 11 am in the Egger Funeral Home, Inc., 15 W. Big Spring Ave., Newville. A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
