It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gladys Purner Falk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of our community on February 7, 2025, at the age of 96 in Green Ridge Village, Newville, Pennsylvania. Gladys was born September 6, 1928, in Hackensack, New Jersey, the daughter of Anthony and Sophie Krell Purner. She was raised in Carlstadt, New Jersey and attended East Rutherford High School. She married Pierre Falk on November 27, 1948.

    Gladys was known for her joyful, caring, energetic nature and had passion for family, painting, gardening, traveling, and volunteering. She was an avid bird-watcher, prolific reader, and champion at building puzzles. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, especially Canasta and Pinochle and lovingly taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to play. Gladys was an active member of First United Presbyterian Church of Newville, Pennsylvania.

    Gladys is survived by her husband Pierre L. Falk. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Brian Falk (wife, Patricia), Douglas Falk (wife, Sherry), and Gordon Falk (wife, Molly); two nieces, Joyce Zupancich, and Arlene Melchionni (husband, Pete); as well as seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Purner and a grandson, Bradley Tage Falk.

    A private family grave-side service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania. On Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., a memorial service will be held at First United Presbyterian Church, 111 W. Big Spring Avenue in Newville, Pennsylvania 17241, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Vernon Gauthier. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’ memory can be made to First United Presbyterian Church at the above address or Green Ridge Village, 210 Big Spring Avenue in Newville, Pennsylvania 17241.
