Edward C. Lezzer, 94 years young, passed away Sunday February 1, 2026 in his home.

    He was born April 6, 1931 in Johnstown, PA a son of Leo and Mary Ceria Lezzer, and was raised in Nanty-Glo, PA

    Ed graduated from St. Francis College in Loretto, PA. After graduating he served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.

    He did his graduate work at Penn State, Indiana University, and overseas earning duel Masters Degrees in History and Foreign Languages.

    Mr. Lezzer had taught Spanish and Social Studies at Big Spring High School from 1956 through 1991. During that time he was a Senior class adviser many times, taught and supervised Summer School, and tutored many students when needed.  He and his wife also chaperoned many groups of students overseas.

    Over the years Ed was very active in the Newville Community, serving the JayCees, the Newville Recycling Center, the Big Spring Area Food Bank, the Newville Public Library. He helped establish the Senior Housing Authority, VFW and Little League Baseball, and also played Santa Claus at numerous locations for various organizations.

   He was also active at St. Patricks's Catholic Church in Carlisle and served as a Eucharistic Minister.

    In 1964 he married Dolores Bracken.  They fell in love with the Cumberland Valley as a beautiful place to live, hunt, make friends, and raise a family.

    In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Thomas Edward Lezzer (Stacy) and David Bracken Lezzer (Megan) and one daughter Maria Ann Lezzer; Three Grandchildren Sydney Marie (Walter) Brisky, Leo Thomas Lezzer, and Gianna Jade Lezzer.

   The entire Lezzer family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the wonderful and loving Hospice care provided to our family during this difficult time.

    Please join our family for a Celebration of Life Funeral Mass followed by Military Honors in St. Patrick's Church 85 Marsh Drive Carlisle, PA, Friday February 13, 2026 at 11 am, with a luncheon to follow.

   Burial will be held at the convenience of the immediate family.
