Doris L. “Dory” Garland, 79, of Carlisle passed away Wednesday October 22, 2025 in UPMC West Shore Hospital.

    She was born August 18, 1946 in Carlisle a daughter of Dudley C. and Dorotlhy R. Stoner Thorne.

    Dory loved traveling, cats, knitting, crafts and puzzels. But she especially loved her family, and family functions.

   She is survived by her husband Bobby Garland, three children Kenneth L. Zeigler, Lisa Boyd, and Scott Zeigler; three grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; grandson Kenneth N. M. Zeigler and his 5 children, grandson Lucas Toot and his four daughters, and granddaughter Brennah Boyd; one brother Ed Thorne, and two sisters Judy Baker, and Susan Hunt.

    Dory is preceded in death by three brothers Ron Thorne, William Thorne, and Clarence Thorne.

    A viewing will be held Saturday November 1, 2025 from 12 to 1 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
