Donald Wayne Heishman, 88, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 6, 2026.

    Born June 11, 1937, Don was the son of the late Harry and Helen Heishman. He graduated from Newville High School in 1955. After graduating, Don started farming and purchased a milk and water route. 

    On February 3, 1961, sixty-five years ago, Don married his loving wife Shirley (Finkenbinder) Heishman. Together they raised three children and expanded the business to not only supplying water to cisterns but busy summers filling swimming pools, additional trucks for hauling whey from Schreiber cheese plant and still continuing to farm. Don decided at the age of 58 that he needed more to do so in 1996 they decided to build 4 softball fields that the community and grandchildren enjoyed for 24 years. 

    Don finally retired at the age of 84. He continued to stay very busy helping family, friends, and at his church, Newville First Church of God. But spending time with family, especially on holidays, was his favorite blessing. Don had many years to enjoy watching his family grow to include 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 

    Don is survived by his wife Shirley, children, Tammy, Duane (Karen), Doug (Debbie) and Sister Twyla (Heishman) Kauffman. 

    A viewing will be held Friday February 13, 2026 from 9 to 11 AM in the Newville First Church of God 475 Shippensburg RoadNewville. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday in the church. A time of fellowship and sharing stories of Don with friends and family will follow. Burial will be held privately.
