Craig Alden Funston 93, of Newville passed away Friday December 26, 2025 in his home.

    He was born November 10, 1932 in Newville a son of the late Merle A. and Alice E. Jackson Funston.

   Craig was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Alice L. Kruger Funston.

    He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1988. After retirement from Letterkenny, he began working at Cumberland Golf Course where he continued to work until 2023.   In retirement, Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting family that lived out of town. For many years he coached the little league teams in Newville.  Craig also coached the Newville Little League All-Star teams.  He was an avid wood worker and made many beautiful wood pieces and furniture for his family and friends.  If there was anything that needed fixed or designed he could do it.  His children, as well as friends, often said if it could be fixed that dad could do it and if dad could not fix it then it was unfixable.  

   He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Newville.

    Craig is survived by four children Diane L. Funston and her husband Richard Smith, Linda J. Funston and her husband Donn Rosen, Jeff D. Funston, and Kristina A. Walker, six grandchildren Karen Krupa, Nicolas Bolen, Matthew Tuckey, Alden Funston, Tyler Walker, and Colton Walker, and ten great-grandchildren Peyton, Luke, and Holden Krupa, Carson and Bradyn Tuckey, Lily and Loralei Bolen, Dominic, Kai, and Charlie Walker.

   He was preceded in death by his sister Crea Funston.

    A graveside service will be held Friday January 2, 2026 at 11 AM at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with Rev. Michael Faust officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
