Charles W. Johnson Jr., 80, of Newville passed away Thursday November 23, 2023 in UPMC Carlisle.

    He was born March 16, 1943 the son of Charles W. Johnson Sr., and Jenny Piper Price.

    Mr. Johnson had retired from Amp Inc. after 40 years of service. He attended the Newville First Church of God, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

    Charlie is survived by his wife Olive J. Barmont Johnson, one son Timothy C. Johnson and his wife Diane, one daughter Tammy R. Tritt and her husband Rob, one grandson Dylan T. Johnson, and his wife Amanda, and two sisters-in-law Haddiee Spidle and her husband Ken, and Berneda Highlands.

    He was preceded in death by one sister Betty Moran, one brother Harry Shroyer, two sisters in-law June Van Scyoc, and Dolores DeHart, and one brother-in-law Eugene Barmont.

    A viewing will be held Wednesday November 29, 2023 from 7 to 9 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. Newville, and Thursday November 30, from 10 to 11 AM in the Newville First Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the Church. Burial will follow in the Newville Cemetery.
