Charles Hoover Obituary

    Charles LeRoy Hoover, 81, of Newville died Saturday February 17, 2018 in Green Ridge Village Newville.

    He was born October 29, 1936 in Carlisle the son of the late Mac L. and Anna Elizabeth Gabler Hoover.

    Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife of 56 years Shirley L. Stitt Hoover.

    He had served in the U.S. Air Force, had owned Charley Roger Construction, and owned Charley Roger Bowling Center in Newville.

    Mr. Hoover belonged to the NRA, was a life member of VFW Post 6070, American Legion Post 421, and Big Spring Fish and Game all of Newville, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Carlisle, he had attended Zion Lutheran Church of Newville. He volunteered many years to the Newville Little League. He also helped organize many community parades.

    In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Gregory L. Hoover, one daughter Christine L. Gutshall, and her husband Michael both of Newville. 8 Grandchildren Jeffrey Hoover, Jenelle L. Butt and her husband Khurram, Rebecca and Jennifer Hoover, Ty Cyr, Gene Cyr, Mikala and Eric Gutshall; 4 great grandchildren Humzah, Haroon, and Haris Butt, and Addison Hoover; two sisters Yvonne M. Heintz, and Karen A. Hoover, both of Newville; three brothers Mac E. Hoover of Carlisle, and Roger A. Hoover and Barry N. Hoover both of Newville. And a number of nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by one son Joel Lincoln Hoover, and one brother Ronnie Hoover.

    A viewing will be held Friday February 23, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville, and Saturday the 24th from 10 to 11 AM. A funeral service with Rev. Barbara Albert officiating will be held in the funeral home at 11 AM Saturday. Burial with military honors will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
