Arthur James Haubert Obituary
Arthur J. Haubert
September 18, 1940 – October 31, 2025
Arthur J. Haubert, 85, of Newville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 31, 2025, alongside his youngest daughter and full-time caregiver, Kathryn Haubert. He was born in Snyder County on September 18, 1940, to the late John and Pauline (Stroup) Haubert.
Known to many as Art or Jim, he attended a one-room schoolhouse through 9th grade before enlisting in the Navy. Following his service, he worked at the Harrisburg State Hospital, then at Roadway Express, and later at the Newville Community Center. He also enjoyed farming and was a devoted member of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 4133 Enola Road, Newville (Bloserville), PA, since 1978.
Art loved living “daringly” at times—driving an old car around town in the 1960s that had three tires and a plain rim, purposely getting his Allis Chalmers tractor stuck in field mud, and even chasing a bull that attacked him with a pitchfork (which got stuck in the pigpen wall and barely missed stabbing him). In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing softball and listening to Richard Petty race in the Indianapolis 500 on the radio or TV. In 1972, he custom-ordered a Plymouth Roadrunner in “Petty Blue” after Petty’s Superbird. Everyone who knew him held him in deep respect.
He dearly loved his extended family and was a wonderful, kind, and respectful husband. His wife, Florence Grace (Kerstetter) Haubert, preceded him in death on March 8th, 2005—just four days shy of their 45th wedding anniversary. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Fawver and Donna Maurer, and a nephew, Ken Buckley.
Surviving him are his companion Shirley Kid, sister, Mary (Donald) Buckley; two brothers, LeRoy (Eileen) Haubert and Gary Haubert; nine nieces and nephews and their children; three daughters: Teresa Markwith, Corinne Gallo, Kathryn Haubert; and five sons: Rodney, Wayne, Stanley, Gerald, and Robert Haubert.
He is also survived by 25 grandchildren:
Cheryl Dixon, Phillip & Matthew Kieffer, Wendy Colwell, Holly Hoyaux, Andrew Haubert, Candi Chronister, Laura Ritchey, Christy Gallo, & Floriannia Rickrode, Samantha & Winter Haubert, Austin, Alexander & Emma Haubert, Brittany, Aaron, Magnum & Mordacia Haubert, Mackenzie, Alyvia & Wesley Haubert, and Chloe & Kaydynce Cole.
Additionally, he leaves behind 27 great-grandchildren:
Anika, Alasia, Maray, Marcellus Jr. & Da’ron Coleman; Joseph, Emma, Phoebe, Raelyn & James Kieffer; Shawn Backenstoes, Minerva, Marguerite & Noah Colwell; Gabriella, Xander & Elionna Hoyaux; Justine & Jaylyn Hockenberry; Kylie & Thomas Hummer; Caitlyn Laughman; Xaviour Sanders; Hunter Haubert, Oliver Rigsby; and Gerald’s twin granddaughters.
He was also blessed with 3 great-great-grandchildren:
Da’Mario, Akiro & Aryania Coleman.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Bloserville at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 4133 Enola Road, Newville, PA, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Jimmy Kincaid and Iva O’Brien officiating.
Burial will follow at Whiteland Church Cemetery, also known as Maze Cemetery, in Thompson Town (Juniata County), PA.
