Virginia L. (Loy) Brandt

August 24, 1923 ~ July 11, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

     Virginia Loy Brandt, resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville and formerly of Brandy Run Road, Newville, completed her Life's Journey claiming her well deserved place in heaven as she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the age of 93. Born August 24, 1923 in Newville, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. Loy and Rema G. Miller Loy. She was married to her husband the late Richard S. Brandt, Sr. for 59 years having married July 25, 1942.

    Virginia was a 1942 Graduate of Newville High School. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a Lifelong member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Newville.

     Known as “Mamie” to many people, she was a Beautiful and Joyful Soul and Loved by all Who knew her. She loved her Lord and Her Family and was truly a kind and loving wife, mother and grandparent, making every family event a treasured memory. She will be remembered for her heart of Gold and for always giving of her time and caring for those in need.

     She was a hard worker, raising two sons on a dairy farm and later in life working outside the home as well. In addition to farming, she was employed by U-Wanna-Wash-Frocks, Newville, Reeves Hoffman Crystal Plant, Carlisle, and retired from the Comptrollers Office of the PA Treasury Department, Harrisburg.

     In addition to her parents and husband Virginia was preceded in death by a son Paul H. Brandt, two brothers, William L. Loy and Paul (Gene) Loy, a sister Janet (Hurley)Chesney, and a daughter-in-law, Ethel (Mrs. Richard S. Jr.) Brandt.

     Virginia is survived by a son Richard S. Brandt, Jr, Fayetteville, a daughter-in-law, Leilani (Mrs. Paul H.) Brandt, Newville; seven grandchildren Paula L. Goodhart (husband Brian) of Chambersburg, Richard S. Brandt III (wife Heather) Fayetteville, Timothy B Brandt (Wife Nicole) Pittsburgh, and Jessica L. Brandt, of Rhode Island; eight great grandchildren, Logan and Connor Goodhart, Megan, and Ethan Brandt, Emma, Noah, Caleb, and Stella Brandt, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

     A visitation will be held Monday July 17, 2017 from 11 AM to 12 noon in Mt. Hope United Methodist Church 599 Whiskey Run Rd. Newville. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday in the church. Burial will follow in the Newville Cemetery.

     In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Virginia to Celtic Hospice and Home Health 900 Century Dr. Suite 201 Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or Green Ridge Village 201 Big Spring Rd. Newville, PA 17241.
