Velma Wiser Obituary

Velma Jean “Took” Wiser peacefully passed away on Friday May 25 with family by her side. She was born May 21, 1936 in Concord, PA and just celebrated her 82nd birthday on Monday. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Yocum Coons.

Took was a stay at home wife who helped to raise several relatives children and most of the neighborhood. She always wanted her children to bring all their friends home so she knew where they were. Later in life, she worked at the Newville American Legion Post 421 and made a lot of great friends.

Took was a member of the Newville American Legion Post 421 and VFW Post 6070 and loved to dance there when she wasn't working. Took loved her family, her cat Tony, McDonald's French Fries, geraniums, and trips to the dollar store. She loved to embroider and family and friends would fight over her beautiful creations.

Surviving are her husband Charles F. Wiser and four daughters, Connie S. Wiser (husband John Quigley), Donna D. Rickabaugh (husband Gary), Lisa J. Black (husband Tracy), and Michelle L. Schock (Companion Mark Lehman and his daughters Crystal and Tiffany). Nine grandchildren, Colby, Devin, Whitney, Nicolas, Dairrein, Branda, Charlee, Daniel, and Shelli and five great grandchildren Cutter, Dane, Autumn, Lorelei, and Dax.

In addition to her parents and nine siblings, she is preceded in death by her only son Charles B. Wiser.

A viewing will be held Monday May 28, 2018 from 4 to 6 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service with Rev. Ed Rabenstein officiating will be held in the Funeral home Monday at 6 PM. A graveside service will be held Tuesday May 29th at 11 AM in Westminster Cemetery Carlisle.
