Richard W. Mitchell

    Richard “Mitch” W. Mitchell, 77, of Newville passed away Wednesday August 1, 2018 in Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill.

    He was born February 15, 1941 in Shippensburg, the son of the late Charles William Mitchell and Evelyn Marie Wolfe Mitchell.

    He had retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, where he worked as a clerk and a first responder. In retirement he spent many hours visiting at Green Ridge Village.

    Mitch belonged to the Newville American Legion, post 421.

    He is survived by one son Michael L. Mitchell of Newville, one daughter Carol L. Hockenberry and her husband Samuel of Carlisle, one sister Jacqueline Rynard and her husband Marlin of Carlisle; six grandchildren Derrek Mitchell, Jordan Hockenberry, Adarose Hockenberry, Tyler Hardy, Dakota Hockenberry, Bryana Hockenberry; and his significant other Phyllis Matthews.

    He is preceded in death by one grandson Wayne Darrell Mitchell; one sister Twyla Rine, and one brother Gerald Mitchell.

    All are welcome to join the family at a graveside service Monday August 6, 2018 at 10 AM in Prospect Hill Cemetery Newville.
