Mae Viola Varner, 92, of Shippensburg, died August 11, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was a resident of Shippensburg Health Care Center. She was born March 12, 1925. Mae was a daughter of the late Burns and Anna V. Scott Shoemaker. Mae worked at the former Newville Shoe Factory, In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Varner who died November 3, 1970; One grandson Timothy Zimmerman, four brothers Harry, James, Jesse and Lloyd Shoemaker; and four sisters, Anna Mary Hancock, Elsie Kelly, Rachel Cover and Grace Hershey. She is survived by one son, William E. Varner and his wife Harriet (Blondie) of Shippensburg, three daughters Esther L. Barrick and her husband J. Paul Barrick of Newville, Miriam B. Funston, of Carlisle, Daisy M. Jumper and her husband Chester of Shippensburg, 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
