Lucena B. Luhn

    Lucena B. Luhn, died peacefully in her Newville home on Friday, Sept 6, 2019. Born Dec 22, 1924 in Surigao, Philippines to parents Jose and Leonicia Borgonia, Lucena attended the University of the Philippines and worked for the US Dept of the Army. In 1948, she married Edgar Luhn, Jr. Lucena worked for the Big Spring School district from 1966 to 2000, retiring at the age of 75 with over 34 years of service. She loved her job at Big Spring because of her caring bosses and the support and cooperation of the teachers, staff and administrators. The favorite part of her job was kindergarten registration where she saw the fresh and innocent faces of children of the next generation of pupils.

    Lucena is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Major Edgar R. Luhn, Jr and her son in law, Ronald G. Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria L. Baker and her son, Edgar R. Luhn, III and his wife Susan Fry Luhn.

    Lucena requested no flowers. If friends wish to do so, they can donate to a charity of their choice in her memory. It was her request that all funeral arrangements be private. Remember Lucena by being kind to each other.
