    Leonard Hedrick Jr., 90 of Newville died Tuesday January 2, 2018 in Claremont Nursing and Rehab.

    He was born June 30, 1927 in Blue Grass, VA the son of Leonard and Betty Jane Puffenburger Hedrick Sr.

    He was preceded in death by three wives Lillian Sites Hedrick, Anne C. Hedrick Wilson, and Bonnie J. Blazevich Hedrick.

    He served in the U.S. Army, in Germany, during the Korean War.

    Mr. Hedrick had been a truck driver for Keen Leasing. After retiring he worked part time at Filson Water. He was a member of Fairview First Church of God, Newville and had also attended Good Shepherd Church, Carlisle.

    He enjoyed talking about driving heavy equipment, the beach, relaxing on his back porch, and spending time with his family.

    He is survived by three sons Roger Hedrick (wife Kathy) of Carlisle, Bill Hedrick (wife Christine) of Boiling Springs, and Keith Hedrick (wife Stormy) of Mechanicsburg; five daughters Deborah Comp (husband Gary) of Mechanicsburg, Sharon Eshelman (husband Stanley) of Carlisle, Betty Lou Flynn (husband Bobby) of Shanadora VA, Mary Crislip (husband Don) of Harrisonburg VA, and Karen Fink (husband Roger) of Harrisonburg VA; one sister Alice Johnson, and one brother Luther Hedrick both of Franklin, WV; 35 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

    He is preceded in death by one grandson Brandon Baughman, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

    A viewing will be held Friday January 5, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home at 10 AM Saturday with the Rev. Bill Pipp officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens Carlisle.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center for the wonderful care they provided their father.
