Kenneth Charles Lay

    Kenneth Charles Lay, 71, of Newville passed away Friday April 12, 2019 in Claremont Nursing and Rehab, Carlisle.

    He was born February 4, 1948 in Lower Mifflin Twp., Newville the son of Charlie and Helen Forney Lay.

    Ken is survived by his wife Karen S. Griffie Lay.

    He was an office worker and dispatcher for John F. Walters Trucking, and other Trucking companies. He was involved with Plainfield Weeblos, had coached Soccer with the Newville youth programs for many years, and was a Youth Group Leader at the Newville First Church of God for over 20 years, had taught Sunday School, was a member of the Carlisle Alliance Church, and the Mifflin Athletic Association.

    In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter Kandi Lay of Cambodia, two sons Kenneth E. Lay and his wife Karen of Newville, and Kevin P. Lay and wife his Kimberly of Mercersburg; four grandchildren Cameron Lay, Carson Lay, Eliza Lay, and Ellianna Lay; two brothers Harry Lay, and Paul Lay, and one sister Frances Shoemaker.

    He is preceded in death by one sister Janet Lay.

    A viewing will be held Thursday April 18, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service will be held Friday April 19, at 10 AM in the Carlisle Alliance Church. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Garden, Carlisle.
