Emma C. (Filsinger) Hoover

    Emma C. Hoover, 78, of Carlisle passed away Saturday November 9, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family.

    She was born August 5, 1941 in Jamaica, NY the daughter of Carl and Evelyn C. Scherer Filsinger.

    Emma is survived by her husband of 34 years Mac E. Hoover.

    She graduated from Fairfield High School, and had worked at the Michael Manor in Gettysburg, Guilford Hills in Chambersburg, and retired as Activities Director after 23 years at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.

    Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church, where she helped in hospitality, and communion.

    In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters Cindy L. Vaughn (husband Michael), and Sherry L. Whitlock (husband Bill); two step-daughters Michelle L. Curtis, and Elizabeth A. Gutshall (Husband Jason); one step-son Timothy E. Hoover; five grandchildren Zachary Cutchall, Nick Vaughn, Kyle Whitlock, Caitlin Whitlock, and Jennifer Washburn; six step-grandchildren T. Ryan Curtis, Chelsea Jones, Hans Shriner, Mary Shriner, Luke Gutshall, and Levi Gutshall; one great-grandchild James Washburn; two step-great grandchildren Lucas Jones, and Jackson Jones; one sister Evelyn Kauffman; and her feathered babies KC, and Baby B.

     She is preceded in death by her brother Carl Filsinger.

     A memorial service will be held Friday November 15, 2019 at 11 AM in Carlisle United Methodist Church with Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle United Methodist Church Building Fund 45 S. West Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
