Doris L. (Gettle) Shoemaker

    Doris L. “Keiter” Shoemaker, 77, died Monday May 28, 2018 in UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.

    She was born July 10, 1940 in Carlisle the daughter of Eber Paul and Anna Margaret Eckenrode Gettle.

    Doris is preceded in death by her two husbands Charles C. Keiter Jr., and Jesse Shoemaker Sr.

    She had worked for Orweco Frocks, and Uni-Mart. She was a member of Dickinson Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday School, and was the Sunday School Superintndent.

    Doris is survived by one daughter Karen A. Fenton and her husband Douglas E., one Granddaughter Kirsten L. Fenton and her fiancee Chris Fernandez, two sisters Thelma Varner and husband Glen, and MaryEtta Fickes and her husband Ronald, and one brother Mervin Gettle; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one son Stephen C. Keiter, and several brothers and sisters.

    A visitation will be held Saturday June 2, 2018 from 10 AM to 12 PM in Dickinson Presbyterian Church. A Funeral service with Rev. Dr. Jack Sproat officiating will be held at 12 PM Saturday in the church.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Dickinson Presbyterian Church 12 Church Rd. Carlisle, PA 17015.
