Betty Marie Burkett, 85, of Shippensburg died Wednesday August 23, 2017 in Green Ridge Village Newville.

    She was born April 20, 1932 in Carlisle the daughter of the late Paul Barrick and Catherine O'Hara and the step-daughter of William O'Hara.

    She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence S. Burkett who died October 29, 2005. One son Ronald D. Burkett, one sister Catherine Blessing; and one brother William O'Hara Jr.

    She had belonged to Green Spring First Church of God, had worked at Newville Shoe, and retired from U-Wanna-Wash-Frocks of Newville.

    She is survived by one daughter Betty J. Souders and her husband Glen of Newville, and two sons John A. Burkett and his wife Robin of Newburg, and James Burkett of Newburg, and one daughter-in-law Mary Burkett of Newville; one sister Romaine Mell; and one brother Charles Barrick; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

    A viewing will be held Saturday August 26, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 Big Spring Ave. Newville. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Newville Cemetery.
