   Samuel E. Hoover, 89, of Newville passed away peacefully December 9, 2017.

    He was born September 24, 1928 to the late Guy and Lizzie Zeigler Hoover. He graduated from Newville High School Class of 1946. Sam served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-1953.

    He is survived by his wife of 64 years C. Louise Hoover; two daughters Kathy Hoover Gardner and Lisa Hoover Sweet and her husband Bill, one son Michael Hoover and his wife Sharon; six grandchildren Jennifer Kipe, Jason Gardner, Neil Sweet, Lindsey Sweet, Travis and Trent Hoover; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers Wayne Hoover, and Kenneth Hoover and one sister Ruth Heberlig.

    He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Michael C. Gardner, three brothers Bob, John and Guy Hoover Jr., and a sister Mary Reeder

    Sam was an avid hunter. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and had many adventures with his brother-in-law Leonard Stouffer and his wife Twyla.

    He had been a part owner of Hoover's Plumbing and Heating where he worked until his retirement.

    He was a member of and past Deacon of Newville First Church of God, was a member of Camp Gnat, VFW Post 6070, and was a Life time member of American Legion Post 421.

    A viewing will be held Wednesday December 13, 2017 from 10:30 AM to 12 PM in the Newville First Church of God. A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday in the church with Rev. Wayne Good officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Newville Cemetery.
