Ronald Gene Baker, 65, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. He fought multiple myeloma for four years while continuing with his work and interests. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Victoria Luhn Baker, a brother Jay and wife Roweena of Florida, a sister Donna Hess and husband, Don of Lancaster, Pa., his mother-in-law, Lucena Luhn, brother-in-law Edgar Luhn and wife, Susan, step-mother Miriam Baker and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his mother, Frieda Ogline and father, Wilbur K. Baker, and his father-in-law Maj. E.R. Luhn Jr. (USA Ret.).

    A graduate of Shippensburg University with a degree in education, Ron taught earth and space science for three years at Bermudian Springs. He started his own masonry contracting business and worked for 38 years as well as working on the farm. He had many interests including geology, astronomy, meteorology and cycling. Ron was an easy going, generous, very hard working person who did not hesitate to help others. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Vickie’s Angel Foundation, 511 Bridge St., PO Box 174, New Cumberland, PA 17070, a non-profit organization whose mission is giving help to families fighting cancer.

   A memorial service will be held Sunday November 13, 15 4 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, 51 W. Main St., Newville, Pastor Dana Blough-Hanson officiating, with food and fellowship immediately following. Egger Funeral Home of Newville is handling the arrangements.
