Richard S. Sherk, 88, died Sunday October 9, 2016 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born May 29, 1928 in Lebanon, the son of the late Samuel G. and M. Lillian Gemert Sherk.
Richard graduated from Lebanon High School, in 945. He then went to Technical School in Philadelphia. He retired from Murata Erie in Carlisle as a Crystal Department Supervisor.
He is survived by two daughters, Constance J. Barnes of Chambersburg, and Chrystal L. (J. Edward) Short of Newville; one sister Aurie Rothgaber of Richboro, PA; three grandchildren Abigail (Benjamin) Leese, Meghan Short, and Andrew (Jacqueline) Short; one great grandson Timothy Leese, and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his wife and companion of of nearly 60 years Jean L. Sherk, two brothers, Herbert and John Sherk, four sisters Myrtle Hagaman, Verda Philips, Lydia Kreider, and Helen Herr.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 11 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church 51 W. Main Street Newville, with the Rev. Dana Blouch-Hanson officiating. A visitation will be held in the church from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
