Ray M. Snyder

    Ray M. Snyder, 80, of Bloserville died Friday September 1, 2017 in Carlisle.

    He was born June 19, 1937 in Carlisle the son of James E. and Minnie F. Nickle Snyder.

    Mr. Snyder was married to Doris Jean Whisler Snyder.

    He had retired from Land O Lakes, and had also worked for Wagner's Chevrolet of Newville, Early's Furniture, S.L. Abrasive, and Dickinson College, Carlisle Tire and Wheel, and Affiliated in Shippensburg. He and his wife owned Snyders' Fruit Farm in Bloserville, and worked at the Farmers Market on Pomfret Street, Holly Pike, and Dillsburg.

    He belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carlisle, had formerly belonged to St. James Lutheran Church in Bloserville, the Mifflin Grange, and he volunteered at the Upper Frankford Fire Company. He had been a Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop #169 in Bloserville. He was also involved with Big Spring Band Boosters, and had served as president.

    He is survived by his children , Lisa A. Snyder of Newville, Stephen Andrew Snyder Carlisle, Ray M. Snyder Jr. of Gardners, D. Louise Bigler of Plainfield, Dallas J. Snyder Mountain Home, ID, and Crystal J. Kime of Bakewell, TN; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one brother Carl R. Snyder, and many nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by two brothers Lee R. Snyder, and Ralph Webb, and one sister Frances R. Fry.

    A visitation will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church 201 W. Louther St. Carlisle. A memorial service will be held in the church at 11 AM with Rev. Robert Moore and Rev. Jean Kuebler officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
