Melvin A. Halteman, 80, of Newburg died Monday September 25, 2017 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

    He was born November 7, 1936 in Franconia, PA the son of Melvin and Carrie Alderfer Halteman.

     Mr. Halteman is survived by his wife Patricia Derstine Halteman.

     He had worked as a salesman for Agri-King, and had been a truck driver.

    Mr. Halteman was a member of Diller Mennonite Church in Newville.

     In addtion to his wife he is survived by three sons Gary Halteman and wife Joanne of Newville, Ray Halteman and wife Linda of Newburg, and David Halteman and wife Rebecca of Newburg, and three daughters Susan Sheeler, and husband Sam of Newville, Lisa Martin and husband Edmund of Orstown, and Rhonda Hartzler of Hickory, NC; one sister Miriam Halteman of Souderton, PA and one sister-in-law Clara Halteman of NY; 26 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

     A viewing will be held Thursday September 28, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM in the Newville Assembly of God 403 Oak Flat Road Newville, and Friday September 29, from 9 to 10 AM. A funeral service will be held in the church at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Joseph Kindon officiating. Burial will follow in Diller Menonite Church Cemetery.
