Margarette C. “Margie” Gilliam, 65, of Newville died Sunday April 9, 2017 in the Hershey Medical Center.

She was born July 17, 1951 in Carlisle, the daughter of the late Elwood R. and Edna Mary Chestnut Gutshall Sr.

Margie is survived by her husband of 44 years William Richard Gilliam.

She graduated from Big Spring High School class of 1969.

She had retired from Big Spring where she had worked as a Library Aide.

In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter Kara K. Bechtold and her husband Scott, a daughter-in-law Kendra Gilliam and her husband Shannon Shertzer, seven grandchildren Peyton, Lily, Victoria, and William Bechtold, Mya Gilliam, and Max and Madi Shertzer; four sisters Barbara Cline, Sandra Gutshall, Nena Chapman, and Annette Gutshall, and two brothers Elwood Gutshall Jr., and David Gutshall; three brothers-in-law David, Duke, and Chuck Green, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son Ricky Gilliam, and her nephew Bill Cline.

     A visitation will be held Sunday April 23, 2017 from 1 to 4 PM in the Zion Lutheran Church 51 W Main St. Newville. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM in the church with Vicar Amy Wagner officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Carlisle P.O.
