Welcome to the memorial page for

Florence J. (Hockenberry) Webber

May 5, 1934 ~ November 30, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Florence (Flo) Webber, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, passed away November 30, 2016. She was born 5/5/1934 in Newville to Foster and Rena Hockenberry. Her love of her family, friends, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and dog Sassy was surpassed only by her love for her husband and partner of 66 years, Harold.

She will be remembered as a generous, devoted woman, extremely talented, who would do anything for her loved ones. Her love of flowers and talent for gardening created a beautiful display at her Mechanicsburg home. She was creative and used her artistic talent to craft hand-made Santa’s that were collected by many year after year. Florence taught her children and grandchildren the value of a good home cooked meal and her home was filled with scrumptious scents of home cooking and pie making.

Florence loved helping people. Until retirement at age 55, she held several jobs in area school districts supporting principals, teachers and students as the school secretary, always ready to solve a problem or face a challenge. Florence and Harold traveled extensively after retirement with family and friends to enjoy landmarks and parks throughout the country. In her later years, health problems slowed her down, but she was determined to continue those important family visits and enjoy travels with Harold.

Christmas was her favorite holiday. Florence loved entertaining and giving gifts to her family and friends, particularly the grandchildren. The Webber Christmas tree and holiday decorations were the envy of many holiday visitors over the years. Christmas Eve was a delightful tradition of celebration with family and friends near and far where there was always room for one more.

Florence is survived by her devoted husband, Harold; four loving children, Brenda Webber, Ronald Webber, Beverly Flowers, and Randy Webber. In addition, she was blessed and greatly loved by her eight grandchildren; Carrie Baker Stahler, Alison Lintal , Andrew Webber, Todd Baker, Evan Flowers, Melanie Webber, Garrett Webber and Toby Webber. Florence relished her role as Great Grandma and greatly enjoyed the cards, hugs and love of her two great grandchildren, Moxie and Victor Stahler.

Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of the Life of Florence Webber on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 111 W. Big Spring Ave., Newville, PA at 2 pm. Food and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the First United Presbyterian Church.
