Dorothy Jeanne (Light) Hudson

Dorothy Jeanne Light Hudson, age 77 of Newville, PA passed away at her home on January 31, 2018. Known to most as Jeanne, she was born on May 4, 1940 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of Marion Rose Light and David Light. Jeanne survived both her siblings David Light Jr and Sue Ellen Light Tyler. Jeanne married to Robert LaConte in 1958 and they had four children together including Dawn LaConte Flynn, Robert LaConte, James LaConte and David LaConte. Jeanne moved with her family to Margate, Florida in 1968. She remarried to her husband Wayne Hudson on June 27, 1981. Jeanne and Wayne were married for 36 years. They settled in Newville, PA in 1986. Jeanne dedicated 25 years of her career at IBM. Jeanne was an avid gardener and reader and friend to all living things. Her family was her greatest joy. Jeanne loved her babies, whether they were human or covered in fur having rescued upwards of fifty cats and dogs throughout her life with her husband Wayne. She was the beloved wife to Wayne, devoted mother to Dawn, Robert, James and David, mother-in-law to Scott, Roseanne, Jessica and Ashley, grammy to Jessica, Jenna, Ryan, Scott, Bobby, Devon, Justin, Robbie and Bella and great-grammy to Jayden, McKhia, Ava, Parker and August. Her goddaughters Suzanne and Margie, niece Suzanne and many other nieces and nephews and caring friends including Betty Lou also survived Jeanne.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jeanne’s memory can contribute a donation to the ALS Foundation for Life or SPCA in her name. The funeral service will be held Saturday February 10, 2018 at Egger Funeral Home in Newville, PA at 1:00PM. Visitation will be held from 12 :00PM to 1:00PM in the funeral home.
